Outdoor Activity & Wellbeing Residential

The DofE Residential is completed as part of the Gold Award and should be an exciting opportunity, away from home and sharing in an activity with people you haven’t met before. Click here to find out more about the residential section. We have teamed up with our friends from Learn Outdoors, another DofE approved provider, to run an outdoor activity and wellbeing residential just for Gold DofE students 21-25 August 2016.

The aim of our residential is for YOU to achieve these things:20150714_163558

  • gain plenty of exercise in a fun atmosphere and beautiful location
  • learn new skills in the outdoors
  • eat really well – meals will be an important shared experience for all the group
  • sleep really well – research proves that this aids mental retention and concentration
  • make new friends
  • have opportunity to relax and have a go at cooking and a shared art project
  • gain confidence

5 things that can boost our mental wellbeing are: physical exercise, connecting & developing relationships, learning new skills, giving to others and being mindful. We can’t promise everything in 5 days but we hope that you can experience many of these and that you will leave us at the end feel energised and happy. For more information on this click here.

We will be staying in a modern and spacious converted barn on a working farm in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Sleeping arrangements will be in single sex dorms, all with bedding and towels provided. All of our meals will be eaten together in a comfortable dining room and you will have the opportunity to be involved in some of the cooking and brush up on some of your culinary skills ready for University life! All outdoor equipment will be provided and there is a room for wet and muddy kit. Each day will involve a physical activity outside such as mountain biking, walking or bushcraft skills. There will be an overnight trip sleeping outside in shelters you have made, an evening art project, a yoga session, quiet time for reading, chatting or games and a picnic in the hills.

If you would like to secure your place please email Emma on info@first4adventure.co.uk. The cost for the full 5 days which includes all accommodation, food, equipment, tuition and activities is £450. A deposit of £100 will be required upon booking with the remaining amount to be paid 14 days prior to the course. Upon booking a kit list will be sent to you along with a medical form and booking sheet to complete.
