Adult Trips

Snowshoeing in the Alps

Join Em Linford, for an extra special adventure, snow-shoeing in the Haut Giffre Valley, a high-altitude massif spanning, to the East, the final ramparts before the Valley of Chamonix and, to the West, the massifs of Dents Blanches and Ruan bordering with Switzerland. It is a hidden valley, often overlooked, with fascinating geology and a dramatic amphitheatre of rocky peaks with waterfalls cascading down them. Visit traditional villages dating back to 1144 and explore pristine snow environments looking for signs of animals and birds. With breathtaking views over the Haute Savoie, this really is a walker’s paradise of high mountains, alpine lakes and magnificent waterfalls.

Every day under Em’s expert guidance, you will explore the local area, away from the busier resorts, and have your lunches up in the mountains either in a refuge or en plain air. With a wealth of knowledge about the local history, geology and flora and fauna, Em will enable you to have an incredibly special and personal adventure.

Em has over 15 years of guiding adult expeditions and overseas trips, from living with the Reindeer Herders of Siberia to glacier travel in Nepal and trekking with the Masaai in the Rift Valley. Em is interactive, sociable and passionate about the outdoors and making each trip the best possible experience for her clients. In her words, “my philosophy is that each journey is about not only what you see but how you see it. It’s not just the landscape itself, but also the joy and wonder at discovering something about yourself and making new everlasting connections.”

Your accommodation is in a luxury ski chalet, which includes top-quality food and wine, outstanding service, a hot tub and a glowing wood burning stove to come home to. You will also be able to enjoy having a professional chef to prepare delicious and locally sourced food for every diet and taste, including a 3 course meal every evening with personally selected excellent wines and beers to accompany your meals.

“A truly wonderful ski chalet that offers everything you could possibly want. After staying at many ski chalets around the world, this is by far the best I’ve stayed in. The attention to detail was incomparable to other chalets I’ve stayed at.”
