Have you ever wanted to explore one of Snowdonia’s mighty rivers? Well this is the day for you. You will spend the day paddling on one of the beautiful rivers in the area. While traveling along the river you will pass through farmland and woodland, hopefully spotting some of the extensive wildlife in the area including: buzzards, egrets, herons, mink and red squirrels. The river was used extensively to transport slate from the many slate mines in the area and along the way you will see some remains of this industrial past. No previous kayaking experience is required and it will be a relaxing journey without any rapids along this unique environment.
You will meet your guide Sam at 9.30am. The start of the day will be looking at basic paddle strokes as well as boat handling skills. Once these skills have been mastered you will start your journey up the river and along the way look at some moving water skills to further improve your kayaking – bring a packed lunch to enjoy along your journey. This is a great introduction to kayak touring and is a perfect day out for all the family. You will aim to finish back at the start by 4pm.
Sam is a highly qualified instructor with over 10 years’ experience working in the outdoor industry. He has spent his life in and around North Wales and so knows the area and rivers extremely well and loves to show people this amazing place.
