NEW this summer we are expanding our successful A Level Maths Residentials programme to include a specific 3 day Year 10 Maths and Outdoor Activity Residential.
We believe in combining excellent teaching with plenty of fresh-air and fun outdoor activities, mixed with good fresh food and opportunities to meet new people and make friends. We want students to build confidence and become independent workers giving them the key skills necessary for Y11 and beyond.
This is suitable for any Y10 Maths student going into Y11 in September 2020. The 3 days will be divided up into several 90 minute Maths sessions and outdoor activity sessions. In the Maths sessions you will be covering many of the core areas of the syllabus, plus exam preparation and past papers questions after dinner. In total students will receive at least 8 hours of tutored Maths. The outdoor activities include abseiling, archery, high ropes and climbing. Every day will be busy with a pre-breakfast outside energiser to get everyone ready and alert for the day ahead and finishing with team games in the evenings.
Accommodation and Food:
Accommodation is at Bell Heath in a beautiful area of North Worcestershire. Sleeping arrangements will be in single sex dorms, both with bedding provided. All of our meals are freshly prepared every day and will be eaten together in a comfortable dining room. Specific dietary requirements will be catered for. All outdoor equipment will be provided and there is a room for wet and muddy kit.
The students will be divided into smaller groups for the Maths and activities with a maximum of 12 in each group. The Maths will be led by Dr Sue Hills, a very experienced GCSE and A Level teacher. Each group will also have their own team leader for the duration of the course, helping them to make the most of the course and ensuring they are helped to settle quickly and given extra support or care where needed. The centre staff, all of whom are highly qualified and experienced, will lead the outdoor activities.
Once we receive your booking request we will email you to confirm availability. The cost for the full 3 days is £300 inc VAT (£360) which includes all accommodation, food, equipment, tuition and activities. A deposit of £100 will be required upon booking with the remaining amount to be paid 14 days prior to the course. Nearer the time you will be sent full details about the course, a schedule of the week’s activities, a medical form to complete and a kit list.
